Benjamin Charles is an American British musician and singer-songwriter. He began recording lo-fi music when he was 15 years old while at school. Born in Los Angeles and raised between the US and the UK, he started playing in bands while at college in South-East London. He made 2 EPs, A Good Old Home in 2012 and Sweetheart Loop in 2014 before a musical hiatus in which he learned filmmaking in Southern California. He began recording what would become his debut album in 2019 in Los Angeles, while playing regularly in coffeehouses and bars. His music infuses folk, alternative rock and electronic elements, with a range of lyrical styles. Following the release of the singles 'Leaving You', 'California' and 'On The Road', his debut album Before the Fire is out in March 2023.
